Miles Magister
Real Aeroplane Company
The Magister is powered by a 130hp de Havilland Gypsy Major 1 engine,
giving a maximum speed of 132mph and a range of 380 miles. 1229
Magisters were produced, as well as an additional 100 built under
licence in Turkey.
The Magister was retired from RAF service in 1948, with many being
re-designated as the Miles Hawk Trainer III and finding new civilian owners.
The aircraft seen here originally served in the RAF in Nos 15 and 24
Elementary Flying Training Schools, and is one of only three
surviving airworthy Magisters.
