Miles Magister
Real Aeroplane Company
The Miles Magister was the RAF's first monoplane trainer, entering
service in 1937. The Magister was a military version of the Miles
Hawk, with larger cockpits and blind flying equipment.
Initially the Magister suffered from spin recovery problems, and a
number were lost in accidents. With the help of the A & AEE,
Miles re-designed the rear fuselage, rudder and tailplane. The
re-designed version, designated the M 14A, proved very successful,
and remained in production until 1941.
