Messerschmitt Bf108
During World War Two, production of the Bf108 was moved to the SNCAN
factory near Paris. By the end of the war, a total of 885 Bf108s had
been produced.
After the war the Bf108 remained in production in France as the Nord
1001/1002 Pingouin. The engine was changed to a 240hp Renault 60-11,
and 285 Pingouins were produced.
The aircraft seen here was originally a Nord 1002 built for the
French Air force in 1951. During restoration, it was discovered that
many of the aircraft's components dated back to 1942. The aircraft is
probably a genuine World War Two Messerschmitt Bf108B-2, which was
re-manufactured as a Nord 1002 after the war.
The aircraft in the above photograph represents a subject from a
specific period in military history. It contains markings that some
may find offensive. All insignia and emblems are included to maintain
complete historical accuracy. The inclusion of these insignia and
emblems/markings is no way an endorsement or approval of the
activities associated with the subject matter.
